Heavy monsoon rains have disrupted daily life across Punjab, leading the district administration in Rawalpindi to declare a one-day public holiday on July 17, 2025.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema issued the notification, advising residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel for their safety.
The decision comes after severe flooding and over 200 millimetres of rainfall in Rawalpindi. Authorities are warning of more downpours to come. Dr. Cheema has advised citizens to stay indoors for the next two to three hours while teams conduct drainage operations.
