Quetta, Balochistan: A Quetta train blast near Chaman Phatak derailed a passenger train heading toward Cantonment Railway Station on Sunday, police and local reports said.
Police officials said the explosion occurred near a railway track in the city. Rescue teams, ambulances and security forces rushed to the site after the blast.
24NewsHD reported that the train derailed after a blast near the Chaman rail crossing. Initial information pointed to a suicide blast, while firing started in the area after the explosion.

The train was carrying a large number of passengers. It also said nearby vehicles and surrounding structures caught fire after the explosion.
An emergency was reportedly declared at Civil Hospital Quetta, and ambulances were reportedly en route to the site. Police and rescue officials had not immediately released confirmed casualty figures.

The incident follows repeated attacks on railway infrastructure in Balochistan. The Associated Press reported last year that Pakistan had suspended train services after a railway bombing in Mastung district targeted the Jaffer Express and derailed six cars.
