LAHORE: Punjab schools, colleges and universities will remain open as usual on Monday, October 12, provincial education authorities confirmed. Both education departments rejected closure notices circulating on social media as fake.
A Punjab School Education Department spokesperson said officials had not decided to close educational institutions across the province. The spokesperson urged the public to disregard the misleading notification.
Punjab Higher Education Department separately dismissed a notice claiming a Monday holiday for public and private colleges and universities. It confirmed that these institutions would follow their normal schedules.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, closure orders cover specific districts rather than the entire province:
- Peshawar: All public and private educational institutions are closed on Monday. Authorities issued the announcement on Sunday.
- Malakand: All public and private schools and colleges are closed for two days under a notification.
- Lower Dir: The district administration confirmed that all public and private schools, colleges and universities are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Examination boards have separately postponed matriculation papers.
Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Malakand has suspended all Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual-II 2026 papers until further orders. Its official website carries the postponement announcement.

BISE Bannu has postponed all SSC Annual-II papers scheduled for Monday until further orders.
Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa face heightened security concerns. Closure announcements remain district-specific, and each examination board’s notice lists the affected papers.
Bannu’s board plans to announce revised examination dates later.
