ISLAMABAD: Five Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarians have been detained ahead of the PTI long march to Islamabad scheduled for September 27, according to party officials and media reports.
ARY News identified the detained lawmakers as Sanaullah Masti Khel, Saifullah Niazi, Ghaus Muhammad, Dawar Khan and Hamad Jamal Hassan Khan. It reported that authorities detained the first three outside Parliament Lodges, while taking two others into custody in Mianwali.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan separately confirmed that authorities had detained several party lawmakers.
The detentions follow Lahore authorities’ decision to place PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, in Kot Lakhpat Jail for 30 days under Section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960. Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz issued the September 20 detention order, citing public-order and safety concerns.

In Rawalpindi, Punjab Police have asked the district administration to close 48 educational institutions to accommodate additional personnel arriving from other districts. About 15,000 police officers could be housed at the institutions, but the administration had not yet announced a final closure decision.

Separately, authorities had surveyed routes linking Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Islamabad and planned trenches and barricades at several approaches, including GT Road, Chungi No. 26, Pirwadhai and I.J. Principal Road. The measures were described as preparations to restrict protest convoys and remain reported plans rather than confirmed completed blockades.
PTI has called the September 27 mobilisation to demand Imran Khan’s release and campaign for what the party describes as constitutional supremacy.
