Disgruntled PTI lawmakers from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have asked party chairman Barrister Gohar to adopt a comprehensive strategy for Imran Khan’s release.
The demand was made in a letter following a consultative meeting by several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPAs in Peshawar on Monday.
According to the letter, the lawmakers discussed the party’s political situation and the campaign for Khan’s release. Moreover, they discussed governance issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and problems faced by party workers and leaders.
The MPAs said they remained committed to PTI’s ideology, manifesto and the founder’s vision. They rejected claims that they were working for any faction within the party.
The letter expressed concern over Khan’s continued imprisonment, restrictions on meetings and issues linked to his medical treatment.

The lawmakers said protest activities held so far had not achieved the desired results. They warned that frustration was growing among party workers.
They also said the campaign for Khan’s release appeared to have shifted away from its main objective. Instead, it has become focused largely on health and treatment matters.
The lawmakers urged the party leadership to reassess the campaign and make it more effective and organised.
They also called on the provincial government to implement Khan’s vision of merit, transparency and good governance across departments.
Sources claimed the sudden adjournment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was aimed at stopping the disgruntled lawmakers from raising their concerns on the floor.
Sources said the PTI lawmakers may hold a press conference soon. Furthermore, they could create difficulties for the party during the passage of the provincial budget.
