ISLAMABAD: A reported PPP contact ban has instructed party lawmakers and leaders to stop communicating with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz ministers amid intensifying tensions between the federal coalition partners.
Pakistan Peoples Party sources said the instructions covered PML-N leaders and federal and provincial ministers.
The sources also claimed that PPP members had been told not to respond to political messages from PML-N officials.
Relations between the parties deteriorated during the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election after the PPP accused the PML-N of electoral manipulation, violence and administrative interference.

PPP Parliamentarians Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari publicly alleged that the election was neither free nor transparent. However, he said the political dispute should be resolved through negotiations and democratic dialogue.

The PPP is also considering a Central Executive Committee meeting after the AJK election.
President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are expected to chair the proposed meeting. Party sources said its agenda would include the AJK results, allegations of rigging, proposed administrative units and relations with the PML-N-led federal and Punjab governments.
