The pontiff said the deal announced between Iran and the United States followed “encouraging work in dialogue and negotiation.” This was according to AFP.
Pope Leo XIV also addressed the war in Ukraine. He called the latest developments “painful” and prayed for “paths of dialogue” toward peace.
He said such dialogue was needed to make a “just and lasting peace possible,” according to the report.

The Pope’s remarks linked two major conflicts in one appeal for diplomacy. This came as Washington and Tehran moved toward ending hostilities in the Middle East, while the Ukraine war continued.
