Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged both the National Assembly and the Senate to set up a joint Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms to prepare comprehensive recommendations for ensuring free, fair and transparent elections in future.

In a letter to the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the PM said the Committee should comprise representatives of political parties from both the Treasury and Opposition members in both Houses.

Nawaz Sharif said the committee should also consider the report of the Sub-Committees of both the houses on the issues and upgrade the electoral system in the light of report of these committees.
