PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Police are investigating the Peshawar girl’s death as suspicious after Iqra was found dead near Khyber Teaching Hospital. Her mother admitted involvement, SP Cantt said.
Police said Iqra’s body was found hanging from a tree. SP Cantt said the circumstances did not initially appear consistent with suicide. Her mother was present at the scene under circumstances investigators considered suspicious.

Her mother initially told police that Iqra had expressed suicidal thoughts. However, she later admitted assisting in the act that led to her daughter’s death, according to SP Cantt.

Police are examining whether other people were involved and have obtained CCTV footage as part of the investigation. SP Cantt said police would investigate the case fully and on merit.
A source confirmed that police had sent the body for post-mortem examination and were investigating both suicide and possible homicide. The final cause and circumstances of death have not yet been established.
