DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: PESCO APMS smart meters are being installed on distribution transformers linked to the 11kV Muslim Bazar feeder. This is to enable transformer-level monitoring and targeted load management.
The Peshawar Electric Supply Company said the Advanced Power Management System would allow officials to monitor each transformer independently. Previously, they managed outages across the entire feeder.
Under the planned system, PESCO will restrict load management to areas with low electricity-bill recovery, high line losses or reported power theft, company officials said. Meanwhile, areas with timely payments and lower losses would avoid unnecessary load-shedding.
The installation is proceeding in accordance with the Ministry of Energy’s directives. It is also under the supervision of PESCO Dera Circle Superintending Engineer Hizbullah Mehsud.

PESCO’s City Division is implementing the project under Executive Engineer Imran Khan Gandapur. The Muslim Bazar feeder’s Line Superintendent-I and technical team are supervising field installations. Furthermore, senior officials from the City-I Sub-Division have inspected the work.
Mehsud said the system would protect consumers in areas with strong bill recovery and minimal electricity theft from feeder-wide outages.
He said transformer-level monitoring would support fairer electricity distribution, strengthen operational control and improve the performance of the distribution network. PESCO did not provide the number of meters being installed or a completion date in the information released.
