Pakistan Railways is gearing up to expand its network of express trains to 96 by December 25, covering various routes across the country.
The expansion aims to facilitate commuters and improve the overall travel experience. The increase from the previous count of 86 trains last year reflects the department’s concentrated efforts to enhance its services.
Officials have highlighted several facilities provided at railway stations, including waiting rooms, vending stalls, station restaurants, and more, aimed at improving passenger comfort.
Additionally, introducing the ‘Train Driver Assistant System’ (TDAS) is a significant technological advancement. This system is designed to assist drivers in navigating the railway tracks up to 700 meters ahead, even in adverse weather conditions like dense smog and fog, thereby enhancing safety, punctuality, and overall efficiency.
The concerted efforts by Pakistan Railways have resulted in an improved punctuality ratio of trains from 76 to 93 per cent in just three months, thanks to close monitoring and stringent measures.
The improvement has increased passenger numbers, with over 20 million more travellers choosing to ride the rails. The TDAS technology is set to revolutionize train travel in Pakistan further, promising safer and more reliable journeys, especially during challenging weather conditions.
