Pakistan Railways has substantially reduced train fares across various travel classes. Fare adjustment applies to journeys ranging from 1 kilometre to 200 kilometres.

According to the official notification, Pakistan Railways has reduced economy class fares by up to 54% and air-conditioned class fares by 40% on selected routes.

Pakistan Railways announced a reduction in fares to pass on relief to inflation hit people after recent drop in petrol and diesel prices.

Specifically, the minimum fare for economy class on the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been reduced from Rs 250 to Rs 100. Similarly, the fare for the Khyber Mail in economy class has also been lowered from Rs 250 to Rs 100.

These new fares have taken effect immediately, as stated in the notification.

This pricing strategy follows recent government actions to decrease fuel costs. On May 15, the diesel price was cut by Rs 7.88, bringing it down to Rs 274.08 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel was reduced to Rs 274.8 per litre, marking a decrease of Rs 7.88.
