Overseas Pakistanis can now file income tax returns online through the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) IRIS portal under a simplified process, the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment said.
The Bureau has launched an awareness campaign to inform overseas Pakistanis about their filing obligations. It also aims to inform them about the procedure involved.
According to an official statement, overseas Pakistanis who earn income in Pakistan are required to file returns, the statement said. This includes income from rental properties, investments, agricultural land and business activities.
Filing offers several benefits, officials said, including lower withholding tax rates, easier banking transactions and incentives on property purchases.
The return-filing process has been made faster and more user-friendly. Now expatriates can submit returns conveniently through the FBR’s IRIS portal, the statement added.
