QUETTA, Balochistan: Today, operation Shaban has killed 71 militants after security forces gunned down four more in Saran Tangai, security sources said Sunday.
The sources said 109 militants had been killed across Balochistan since July 5 in Operation Shaban and other operations. They said the latest clash took place in rugged terrain.
Security forces recovered M4 rifles, submachine guns, rocket launchers, mobile phones and other equipment from the killed militants.
The Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps Balochistan and Balochistan Police are jointly carrying out the operation.
Security sources said the operation began after the attack on the Mangi Dam police post in Ziarat. AP reported that nine police officers were killed in that attack and 15 militants died in a subsequent operation.
