Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo became the first woman this year to score multiple No. 1 singles on Spotify’s Global chart after “The Cure” reached the top spot.
“The Cure” debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s daily Global and US charts after its May 22 release, Headline Planet reported. The track is the latest single from Rodrigo’s upcoming third album, “You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love.”
The milestone follows “drop dead,” which also opened at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global and US charts in April. Headline Planet reported that the song led both charts for April 17, giving Rodrigo a strong start to the album rollout.
Both “drop dead” and “The Cure” climbed to No. 1 on the streaming platform before the album’s June 12 release. It also said fans celebrated the achievement across social media.
Billboard reported that Rodrigo released “The Cure” as the second official single from the album. Pitchfork said the song was produced by Dan Nigro, Rodrigo’s longtime collaborator, and arrived with a music video directed by Cat Solen and Jamie Gerin.
