US musician Oliver Tree and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim were named in reports among six people killed after two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on June 14.
The crash happened over the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighbourhood, where one aircraft fell into a car dealership parking area and sparked a fire, local authorities said.
Associated Press reported that Tree was on a passenger list, while authorities had not yet officially confirmed all victim identities. Lucas Vignale, Lucas Brito Chaves, pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac, and Gaspar Prim are among the dead.
Fire services spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreiras told CNN Brasil that the exact cause of the accident remained unclear.
Rio Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere confirmed foreign nationals were on board one aircraft, but officials initially gave no further details.
Tree, a California-born musician, rose to wider prominence with his 2020 debut album “Ugly Is Beautiful.” He had been in Brazil during a world tour and had performed in São Paulo on June 6.
Gaspar Prim, an Argentine content creator also known as Gaspi, had a large online following. AP reported that Argentine streaming channel Blender mourned his death.
