SAN FRANCISCO: An Nvidia investment in Perplexity, under discussion, could value the AI search startup at more than USD 30 billion, Reuters reported on August 23.
The proposed equity round would lift Perplexity’s valuation by more than 50% from the roughly USD 20 billion valuation reported after its September 2025 financing.
Perplexity declined to comment, while Nvidia did not immediately respond to Reuters. Perplexity’s annualised revenue has climbed above USD 750 million from less than USD 250 million at the start of 2026, according to people cited by The Information.
Its Perplexity Computer AI agent contributed to that growth by automating computer-based tasks for professional users.

The reported investment would deepen an existing commercial relationship. Nvidia said in July that Perplexity had tested its Vera CPU on an agent coding workflow.
Completing the task about 1.5 times faster than the x86 system used for comparison. Perplexity was also evaluating Vera for an upcoming production system.
The financing remains under discussion rather than completed. An August 31 private-market review said neither Nvidia nor Perplexity had announced the potential transaction.

Reuters also reported that Nvidia is already among Perplexity’s investors, alongside backers including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and SoftBank Group.
Perplexity earlier signed a USD 750 million agreement to use Microsoft Azure, according to a Bloomberg report.
