A “Nova” movie is in early development at Marvel Studios, with “Loki” writer Michael Waldron working on the screenplay, according to Hollywood trade reports.
TheWrap reported on July 13 that the project is being developed as a feature film rather than the Disney+ series previously discussed. “Moon Knight” writer Sabir Pirzada wrote an earlier version of the script.
Marvel Studios and Waldron’s representatives had not commented on the report. Marvel’s official film slate does not currently list “Nova,” and the studio has announced no cast, director, production date or theatrical release date.
Radio Times separately reported on July 14 that Waldron could potentially direct the film if it moves forward, but his directing role has not been confirmed.
The supplied account described the project as unconfirmed and questioned whether Marvel would use Richard Rider, Sam Alexander or both versions of Nova.
Marvel Comics identifies Richard Rider as a Nova Corps member who later carried the organisation’s combined power after its destruction. Sam Alexander is a younger Nova who inherits a helmet connected to his father’s service in the intergalactic force.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe previously introduced the Nova Corps and Xandar in “Guardians of the Galaxy.” “Avengers: Infinity War” later established that Thanos attacked Xandar before taking the Power Stone, providing a possible narrative starting point for the film.
