NEW YORK: Taylor Swift’s new single “Patient Zero” will arrive Friday, September 25, the singer announced Tuesday after teasing fans with a countdown on her website.
Swift confirmed the release in a September 22 Instagram post. She said the track would be available for pre-order for 24 hours, while Apple Music lists it for September 25.
The announcement followed a countdown that ended at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday. Swift had also changed her social-media bio to replace several letters “o” with zeroes, a clue that pointed toward the song’s title.
Swift’s official store listed three USD 3.99 CD editions: the standard version, an acoustic version and a piano version. Each edition includes a double-sided cover.

“Patient Zero” is Swift’s first music release since she married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3.
Her previous new song, “I Knew It I Knew You,” appeared earlier in 2026 on the “Toy Story 5” soundtrack. The single will arrive two days before the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27.

CBS and MTV said Swift will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honours for her work directing music videos. Swift released her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” in 2025.
