A new train engine imported from China by Pakistan Railway could not complete its first assignment and failed at Sukkur en route to Karachi on Monday.

The engine was to take Shalimar Express to Karachi from Lahore. However, the engine developed some fault and stopped at Daherki.

Authorities had to arrange an alternate engine to take the train to its destination.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of Pakistan Railway said that there was a fault in engine’s computerized system.

The spokesman said that local technicians were not trained to use computer technology.
