Rafael Nadal is set to face his longstanding rival, Novak Djokovic, in what promises to be a memorable final encounter at the Six Kings Slam, an exhibition event in Saudi Arabia. This match comes just as Nadal plans to conclude his remarkable tennis career.
The pairing was decided after Nadal was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 6-3 in the semi-finals. This set up a third-place play-off against Djokovic, who lost to Jannik Sinner 6-2, 6-7(0), 6-4.
The event’s final will see world number one Jannik Sinner take on Alcaraz in Riyadh. The winner will receive a hefty $6 million prize.
Reflecting on his upcoming match with Djokovic, Nadal shared his sentiments with reporters. “Facing Novak feels nostalgic,” he said. “We’ve had many matches, so it’ll be enjoyable to compete against him again.”
Nadal recently announced his retirement and has faced Djokovic 60 times—a record in men’s tennis, winning 29 of those encounters. Their most recent match was at the Paris Olympics, where Nadal fell 6-1, 6-4 to the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

Besides his singles career, Nadal hinted at participating in the Davis Cup Final 8 in Malaga from November 19-24, possibly pairing with Alcaraz in men’s doubles again. “Emotionally, I’ll be ready,” Nadal stated, acknowledging he has a month to prepare. “If I’m not ready for singles, I’ll be the first to say so, and I’ll see how else I can contribute.”
Nadal praised Alcaraz’s progression, noting his solid support system and constant learning. “He’s developing well, but I’m here whenever he needs advice,” Nadal added.
American tennis player Danielle Collins has reversed her retirement decision in related news. Known for her vigorous style, nicknamed ‘Danimal,’ she had previously announced plans to retire after the 2024 season to start a family. However, following her second-round exit at the Australian Open, Collins has decided to extend her career into 2025. “The Danimal story isn’t over yet,” she revealed on Instagram, committing to continue competing on the tour.
