The criticism of King Charles‘ Easter message and the bishop controversy has intensified following the backlash over his recent interfaith messaging.

King Charles, 77, reportedly received strong criticism following efforts to promote inclusivity by acknowledging multiple religions in his Easter message.

Bishop Ceirion H. Dewar openly criticised the King for his approach. He argued that, as Supreme Governor of the Church of England, the monarch should place stronger emphasis on Christianity.

In a direct message, the bishop stated that the King was not fulfilling his responsibilities as head of the Church.

Bishop hits out at King Charles for including other religions in Christian holiday messages as Easter looms.

In a message to His Majesty, the bishop said: 'You are the Supreme Governor of the Church of England and head of this state, you're not acting like it’

The bishop also expressed concerns about what he described as Christianity’s declining position in the United Kingdom. He urged King Charles to take a more vocal stance in defending the faith, referencing the approach of Queen Elizabeth II.

According to his remarks, the monarch should actively uphold his oath to protect the Protestant tradition.

Bishop Dewar published his letter publicly, where it reportedly gained significant support. Thousands of people backed his concerns, highlighting growing debate around the monarch’s role in religious matters.

The issue has reignited discussion about the balance between tradition and inclusivity in royal messaging. The controversy reflects broader questions about the monarchy’s role in modern Britain.

While King Charles has promoted interfaith dialogue, critics argue that his constitutional role requires a stronger focus on the Church of England. As the debate continues, the issue underscores tensions between evolving social values and longstanding royal traditions.
