He confessed that his major responsibility included air tickets and hotel arrangements, and meetings and places were scheduled two days before such meetings.

Tariq Mir alleged that Hussain was aware of the Indian funding, adding that MQM workers were sent to India for training.

The key points of the statement  are as follows

  • In 1996, when MQM was founded, RAW provided training and was part of the deal with the Indians.
  • Initially, the funding was provided in US dollars, but due to delays in converting to sterling pounds, funding was paid in sterling pounds after some time.
  • Part of the money was transferred into a bank account or kept in Pakistan accounts.
  • All the money used to go to Altaf Hussain or a third thing (source of funds) may have been money or a cheque paid to Altaf Hussain. Or the money would either be transferred to Altaf Hussain by Hawalah.
  • The purpose of the meetings was to get to know one another, and the names of the agents (RAW) were not their real names.
  • Mir was unaware of the MQM’s involvement in guns and IEDs explosives in Pakistan.
