ISLAMABAD: National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) issued an advisory on Monday about motorway road repairs affecting the M-2, M-3 and M-4. Officers urged motorists to drive cautiously through work zones.
Maintenance affects sections connecting Lahore, Kot Momin, Abdul Hakeem and Pindi Bhattian. NHMP’s online advisory lists these restrictions:
- M-2: Roadworks affect the Kot Momin–Lahore section. Northbound traffic near Hadiyala Virkan is diverted onto the southbound carriageway towards Sheikhupura.
- M-3: Lane restrictions affect Nankana Sahib, Jaranwala and Samundri on the Lahore–Abdul Hakeem route.
- M-4: Repairs affect two northbound lanes between Faisalabad and Pindi Bhattian.
- E-35: Roadworks affect a southbound lane at Akhoon Di Bandi on the Burhan–Thakot route.
- N-5: Maintenance and diversions affect locations across the highway’s northern, central and southern zones.
Police advised drivers to remain alert and follow traffic instructions when passing through affected areas.
Separately, NHMP confirmed that the M-1 between Islamabad and Peshawar had reopened to traffic in both directions.
Authorities had earlier restricted several routes towards the capital in connection with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned long march. PTI postponed the protest originally scheduled for September 27.
