ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Sunday that internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi had returned to normal after technical teams repaired an optical fibre fault.
An earlier cable cut in a telecom operator’s network had disrupted mobile data and internet connections accessed through Wi-Fi. Customers in parts of the twin cities experienced partial service interruptions.
PTA attributed the disruption to the damaged fibre link. The fault affected some service providers, with interruptions limited to particular localities and surrounding areas.
Technical teams worked on the damaged cable before the regulator confirmed restoration. Its update covered both Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

During the disruption, PTA had described the problem as localised. It reported normal internet operations across central and southern Pakistan, while acknowledging service problems in some northern areas.
Those earlier northern disruptions extended beyond the twin-city account, but the restoration announcement specifically identified Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
