The interior ministry has decided to suspend mobile phone services in all major cities on the 8th, 9th and 10th of Muharram.
According to initial reports mobile services could be suspended in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Larkana, however a final decision is still to be made in this regard.
The deputy commissioner (DC) Peshawar has announced the suspension of mobile services in specific areas of the provincial capital.
The Home Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) said that cellular services will be jammed in sensitive areas like Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Hangu and others.
In Islamabad, mobile services will also remain suspended though partially, by placing jammers alongside the route of Ashoora procession.
According to sources, Govt has also decided to deploy Pakistan Army, Rangers and FC personnel for security purposes in all major cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta etc. 12 helicopters from the wing of the interior ministry will also be on high alert for assistance of any untoward incident.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not identified these areas, maintaining confidentiality for security reasons.
