Australia captain Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the Mitchell Marsh Pakistan series after suffering an ankle injury during the Indian Premier League.
Cricket Australia said Marsh returned to Perth for further assessment and treatment after missing Lucknow Super Giants’ final IPL game on Saturday. Josh Inglis will captain Australia in the three-match one-day international series starting Saturday in Rawalpindi.
Marsh joins regular 50-over captain Pat Cummins in missing the Pakistan tour. Cummins is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL playoffs this week.
Travis Head, Australia’s third-choice captain, was not selected for the Pakistan series because of IPL commitments. That leaves Inglis, the wicketkeeper, to lead the side.

Inglis has captained Australia once before, also against Pakistan, in Perth in November 2024.
Cricket Australia said Marsh’s availability for the white-ball tour of Bangladesh would be decided later. Australia are scheduled to play three ODIs in Bangladesh from June 9, followed by a three-match T20 international series.
