KARACHI: Lawyer Jibran Nasir objected to Shah Latif Station House Officer Ghulam Nabi Afridi’s inclusion in the nine-member Mir Raza Ali probe, citing concerns about his service record.
Nasir said he sent a written objection to Deputy Inspector General of Police for Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi. He asked Farooqi to review Afridi’s record before retaining him on the team.
Police expanded the committee to nine members by adding Inspector Afridi and Deputy Superintendent of Police Muhammad Hanif Khan, according to The Express Tribune.
Nasir acknowledged Farooqi’s authority to select investigators. However, he said the inclusion of a particular officer could raise questions about the investigation.

The family proposed officers Sirajuddin Lashari, Muhammad Ali and Hanif Khan for the committee, Nasir said. The police included all three on the team.
Nasir said the family wanted investigators to identify the actual perpetrators, arrest them alive and establish the motive. He also urged police to conduct a transparent investigation and take the case to its logical conclusion.
