KARACHI: A report in the Mir Raza Ali murder case found hydrochloric acid particles, gunshot residue and two bullet holes on the businessman’s shirt, Geo News said Tuesday.
The chemical examination report recorded one hole on the back and a larger one on the front. It also said someone had tried to conceal Ali’s identity and that no fingerprints were found on his hands.
Police separately confirmed that Ali’s DNA matched his parents. Investigators also detected sedative substances in his blood and said someone may have drugged him before the shooting.

Online cab driver Ehsanullah told Geo News that Ali booked his ride at 3:57 a.m. on July 28. The journey began at 4:09 a.m., and the driver dropped him near an uphill section of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

A new investigation team visited the recovery site on Tuesday. Senior Superintendent of Police Ali Raza inspected the location and questioned the gardener who first discovered the body.

Investigators acknowledged that the previous team had not conducted geofencing, obtained Ali’s mobile data record or forensically examined his smartwatch. The new team began pursuing those steps and contacted the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency to investigate possible threats.
A Karachi court directed investigators to submit their report by August 15.
