KARACHI, Pakistan: The Mir Raza Ali autopsy board sent DNA and chemical samples for testing after exhuming his remains Saturday.
Board member Prof Dr Naseem Ahmed said the eight-member panel completed the fresh post-mortem examination. Later, a medical report said a gunman shot Ali from behind, and his body bore marks of violence.
However, Geo relied on unnamed sources, while investigation chief SSP SIU Samiullah Somroo said police lacked those findings.
According to local news channel Geo, doctors collected 17 samples, including four for DNA testing, plus two reference samples from Ali’s parents. Moreover, its sources expected results within 3 to 4 days and said the samples would reach the University of Karachi on Monday.
Advocate Jibran Nasir said the exhumation began at 11:07 am PKT Saturday at the Tariq Road graveyard. He said a judicial magistrate, investigators, the medical team and Ali’s parents witnessed the procedure.

Nasir added that Saturday’s examination satisfied the family after it objected to an earlier five-member panel.
The Sindh government restored the original eight-member board on Friday evening, allowing the court-approved examination to proceed.
Previously, the family’s challenge to the abruptly reconstituted board postponed Friday’s exhumation. The family also objected to the inclusion of members from outside Karachi.

Meanwhile, Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed had raised 14 objections to the July 29 post-mortem report.
She cited missing X-rays, gunshot-residue testing, skull and neck examinations, wound measurements and DNA sampling. Ali, 25, owned Wafflix and graduated from the Institute of Business Administration.
He disappeared on July 28, and investigators found his body the next day in Gulistan-e-Jauhar with a gunshot wound.
Raza’s family alleges kidnapping, torture and murder, while investigators have examined whether he died by suicide. Therefore, pending DNA and chemical reports leave the cause and manner of Ali’s death unresolved.
