The Recording Academy lists 13 Grammy wins for Jackson. He collected eight awards at the 1984 ceremony.
Jackson blended rhythm and blues, soul, rock and funk across his music. Audiences knew him as the King of Pop.
His music videos combined elaborate choreography with narrative storytelling. “Thriller” became a prominent example of that approach.
