Matt Brown death was announced by his brother Bear Brown, who said the former “Alaskan Bush People” star had died at age 43.
Bear shared the news in a TikTok video posted Saturday night. He said a body found in a nearby river had been positively identified as Matt.
Bear said their brother, Noah Brown, was present and helped recover Matt from the water.
He said the death appeared to be “self-inflicted,” but added that the coroner still needed to make a formal determination.
“I would have never suspected he would have hurt himself,” Bear said in the video. He said Matt had struggled for a long time.
Bear also asked viewers to show compassion toward the Brown family. He urged people to be respectful to his mother and avoid hurtful comments online.
