ISLAMABAD: The M-1 motorway closure will begin on the evening of September 23. Sections of M-14 and the N-5 will also shut to traffic, a motorway police spokesperson said.
The M-1 will remain closed in both directions between Islamabad Toll Plaza and Chachh Interchange. Tarnol, Sangjani, Brahma Bahter, Burhan, Hazara Motorway, Ghazi and Chachh interchanges will also be closed.
On the M-14, traffic will be stopped in both directions between Hakla and Kundal. Pindi Gheb, Khapra, Tarap, Daud Khel, Kot Balian, Isa Khel and Kundal interchanges will also close.
The spokesperson said the N-5 GT Road at Attock Khurd would also be closed from Wednesday evening. The spokesperson did not specify the exact closure time or when the restrictions would be lifted.
The announcement precedes Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned September 27 mobilisation towards Islamabad. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has warned the party against staging another sit-in. He said the federal government would act within the law if the protest proceeded.

Naqvi also said the government would implement Islamabad High Court orders concerning the planned protest. In addition, the government is preparing a longer-term response to repeated disruptions in the capital.
