Spain coach Luis de la Fuente’s contract has been extended through 2032 after the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) unanimously approved a new six-year deal on Monday.
The agreement keeps the 65-year-old in charge for UEFA Euro 2028, the 2030 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2032, extending a tenure that began when he replaced Luis Enrique in December 2022.
De la Fuente has since led Spain to the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League, Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Spain won on July 19 in New Jersey. The RFEF said the extension was designed to provide stability across the next major tournament cycle.
RFEF President Rafael Louzán described De la Fuente as the most decorated coach in Spain’s national-team history and said the federation wanted to maintain confidence in the sporting project he leads.

De la Fuente had spent around a decade working with Spain’s youth teams before taking charge of the senior side, giving him more than 14 years within the federation’s national-team structure.
Spain begin their 2026-27 UEFA Nations League campaign against England at Wembley Stadium on September 26 before hosting Croatia in Seville on September 29. They then face Czechia in Oviedo on October 3 and Croatia away on October 6.
