PUNE, India: Pune District Police plan polygraph tests for Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary after contradictions emerged in the Ketan Agarwal murder investigation at Lohagad Fort.

Police said the two accused blamed each other during custodial questioning over the alleged plot and the fatal push.

Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old Pune businessman, died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala.

Investigators said the case first appeared to be an accident before they treated it as a murder conspiracy. Police found discrepancies during a six-hour cross-examination of Goyal and Chaudhary.

Police approached the legal system for permission to conduct lie-detector tests after questioning reached a deadlock.

Investigators also examined Goyal’s mobile devices as part of the digital forensics review. The searches on the devices included queries about “least detectable methods of murder” and fatal fall heights.

Police also alleged that the accused tried to carry out the plan more than twice before June 18. A Pune local court extended police custody of Goyal and Chaudhary until July 3.

Police also sought time to seize passports and identify the exact spot at Lohagad Fort where the alleged assault began.

Polygraph results cannot serve as primary evidence in Indian courts, but investigators may use test leads to gather supporting evidence.
