KARAK, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A Karak police operation killed four suspected terrorists early Friday near the Karak-Kohat border, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police said.
Police said Karak and Kohat teams launched the joint intelligence-based operation around 5am after receiving credible information about militants in the Khattak Dam area.
The suspects opened fire on the police party, prompting retaliatory fire, according to the police statement cited by The Express Tribune. Police said the exchange killed four members of the Commander Zahid Group.
District Police Officer Imran Khan said the encounter took place in the Dhandi Adelkhel area under the jurisdiction of Sabirabad Police Station.
Police said they recovered arms and ammunition from the site. They also cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to gather details on the identities and criminal records of the slain suspects.

The police statement said the group had been involved in the killing of several police officers and personnel, The Express Tribune reported.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for the operation. He said police had foiled the designs of terrorists and that security forces remained determined to eliminate terrorism.
The Centre for Research and Security Studies as saying fatalities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rose from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025.
