KARACHI: Police have detained a farmhouse manager after an event organiser allegedly fled with mobile phones belonging to more than 50 girls in Gadap.
Police identified the organiser as Salman. He collected the devices after telling attendees that the venue prohibited video recording, officers said.
One attendee told police that recruiters had promised them work, food and Rs2,000, along with training to set up stalls. She described the invitation as a job offer.
Attendees travelled to the venue in two buses. According to her account, they expected to visit a private society but instead arrived at the farmhouse. They had also been told their boss would hold a meeting there.

She said those collecting the phones attached receipts to the devices. By evening, the attendees realised their phones were missing.
The attendee alleged that Salman left on a motorcycle with another man, carrying the devices in a bag.
Affected attendees went to Gadap police station. Officers recorded the detained farmhouse manager’s statement.
Farmhouse administrators told police that those arranging the booking had described it as a corporate event attended by girls. They understood that a boss would deliver a speech and proceedings would finish in the evening.
Administrators maintained that they had received no payment for the booking.
