KARACHI: Police investigating five family deaths in Bin Qasim have sent a recovered handwritten note for forensic examination. Officers found the bodies overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
Malir’s senior superintendent of police said the examination included handwriting verification. Investigators were considering all aspects of the deaths, although their initial assessment included suspected suicide.
Officers discovered the bodies at a rented house in a private housing society near Gulshan-e-Hadeed. Those who died included a married couple, their daughters and the man’s sister.
Police identified the adults as property dealer Shahzaib, his wife Saba and his sister Shumaila. Their daughters were named Aizal and Arya.
Preliminary police findings suggest Shahzaib may have killed his wife before dying by suicide. Investigators are examining the circumstances of his sister’s and daughters’ deaths. Police transferred the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal procedures.
Investigators said the handwritten document referred to financial difficulties and strained family relationships. Its authorship remains subject to forensic examination.
Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho sought a detailed report from the deputy inspector general for East Zone. He directed officers to establish the causes of death through an impartial investigation.
Odho ordered investigators to collect evidence, complete forensic and legal procedures, and examine possible criminal involvement. He instructed officials to keep him informed of their findings
