KARACHI: Two armed men opened fire on a private office near Ayesha Manzil, Karachi, before demanding Rs50 million in extortion money, police said after CCTV footage of the attack surfaced.
Police said the Karachi extortion attack took place on July 16. No one suffered injuries in the firing.
The footage showed the suspects arriving outside the office on a motorcycle. One attacker walked towards the building and fired several shots before escaping with his accomplice.
Both men wore helmets that concealed their faces and made immediate identification difficult, according to investigators.
Police said the attackers contacted the office after the shooting and demanded Rs50 million. Investigators are examining whether the firing aimed to pressure the office management into paying the money.

Gulberg Police Station registered a case over the attack and extortion demand. Police have taken the CCTV footage and other available evidence into custody.
Investigators are working to identify the suspects, trace the motorcycle used in the attack and determine how the assailants contacted the office after the firing.
Police said raids would be conducted after investigators establish the suspects’ identities and possible locations.
