KARACHI, Sindh: Manghopir Police registered a Karachi builder extortion case after two gunmen fired at a construction site and a caller demanded Rs50 million, police said on July 17.
Police lodged the First Information Report (FIR) on the complaint of the site in-charge Hassan Nauman. The case remains under investigation.
The FIR states that two men arrived on a motorcycle while construction work was underway. They allegedly opened fire on people at the site. However, the security guard and other workers escaped without injury.
Nauman told police that a call later came from a foreign telephone number. The caller allegedly demanded Rs50 million, claimed links to the Samad Kathiawari group and threatened to kill the builder if he refused to pay.
