Karachi Police said the security in charge of a cash van allegedly helped robbers steal Rs300 million from the vehicle in the Federal B Area on Saturday.
Police officials said the cash van had left Tariq Road to deliver money to a private bank in the FB Area. The crew stopped near Rizwan Park for tea before the robbery.
Investigators said four unarmed suspects approached the vehicle while the guards stood outside with the doors open. Police said the security in charge took the keys from the guards, entered the van and closed the doors.
The suspects then drove the cash van to a street near Altaf Pakwan, according to police. They shifted bags carrying Rs300 million into another vehicle and fled with the security in charge.
Police said the robbers left behind two pistols and a repeater rifle that belonged to the guards.
