A Karachi Model Colony robbery was caught on CCTV near Warsi Mosque, where armed robbers snatched an older man’s mobile phone, police said.
The incident took place in Model Colony, Korangi District. Police said the man was sitting on his doorstep when armed muggers approached and took his phone.
The resident drew his licensed firearm and pursued the fleeing suspects. Police said he tried to fire at them, but his weapon jammed.
Law enforcement officials said raids were underway at different locations in Karachi to arrest the suspects.
The incident surfaced after another robbery in Dastagir No. 9, where armed men entered a house on the second day of Eid al-Adha on the pretext of asking for sacrificial meat.
An FIR lodged at Joharabad police station said the robbers held family members and butchers hostage inside the house.

The complainant said the suspects took $15,000, Pakistani currency and 17 to 18 tolas of gold after breaking into a wardrobe.
CCTV footage from the Dastagir case also showed two suspects standing guard outside the house. The FIR said eight robbers were involved, with six inside the house and two outside.
