In February 2025, Kanye West sparked controversy at the Grammy Awards when his wife, Bianca Censori, removed a black coat at his request, revealing a sheer dress.

The incident, which sparked extensive discussions on social media, ignited debates about propriety and publicity. Many referred to it as a “stunt,” though no official sanctions were reported, according to Reuters. This moment set the stage for a tumultuous year for West, who is known as “Ye.”

Kanye West has been dropped by his talent agent:

“Effective immediately, I'm no longer representing YE (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his harmful and hateful remarks that myself nor 33 & West can stand for." pic.twitter.com/5NreRNTrWY

West’s X account became a platform for provocative statements in 2025, including unverified claims of praising Adolf Hitler, identifying as a Nazi, and targeting the Jewish community. These posts, lacking specific attribution, drew widespread condemnation, though Elon Musk has not indicated plans to suspend West’s account, per CNN. The absence of moderation has fueled debates about free speech and platform responsibility.

On May 17, 2025, former bodyguard Benjamin Provo filed a lawsuit against West, alleging racial discrimination, wrongful termination, and a hostile work environment at West’s company. Provo claims he was fired for refusing to cut his dreadlocks, integral to his Muslim beliefs, and accuses West’s team of labour violations. West and his firm deny the allegations, per court filings. Censori, named West’s legal representative, faces a subpoena, with West set to testify by month’s end.

West’s legal team resists releasing documents confirming Censori’s authority without a protective order, citing confidentiality. This lawsuit adds to West’s history of legal battles, following controversies like his 2022 antisemitic remarks.

West’s actions in 2025, along with a Grammy stunt and legal issues, continue to polarise opinions, highlighting his defiance in the face of criticism. The ongoing lawsuit and public response will significantly influence his controversial legacy.
