KARACHI, Sindh: K-Electric customers regain protected status after using no more than 200 units monthly for six consecutive months, the electricity provider clarified on July 17.
The rule applies to eligible residential Non-Time-of-Use (Non-TOU) customers. K-Electric said that exceeding 200 units per month does not permanently remove a household from the protected consumer category.
To qualify again, the customer must keep electricity consumption at or below 200 units during each of the following six consecutive months. Other applicable eligibility conditions must also be met.
K-Electric issued the clarification after social media posts suggested that the protected consumer rules had changed. The company said it had made no changes to the eligibility criteria.
The utility’s official tariff information defines protected customers as Non-TOU residential consumers who use no more than 200 electricity units per month for 6 consecutive months.
