Actor Jason Momoa is no longer attached to Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions’ planned “Helldivers” film adaptation.
According to recent reports, Momoa had been set to star in the video game adaptation, which filmmaker Justin Lin is directing. The reason for his departure has not been disclosed.
Sources said the project remains active and continues to move forward in development.
Sony is reportedly searching for a new lead actor to headline the film. The adaptation is currently scheduled for theatrical release on November 10, 2027.
Plot details remain under wraps, but the film is expected to draw from the “Helldivers” video game series developed by Arrowhead Game Studios.

The original “Helldivers” launched in 2015 as a cooperative twin-stick shooter. The game follows an elite military unit fighting alien threats across the galaxy in defence of “Super Earth.”
The franchise expanded with “Helldivers 2” in 2024. The sequel sold more than 12 million copies across PlayStation 5 and PC in its first four months.
Hutch Parker is producing the film with PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash and Justin Lin through Perfect Storm Entertainment.
