After creating waves with the newly released trailer of his upcoming film Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, Ahmad Ali Butt has released a song ‘Zehar’ featuring ‘Humsafar’ famed Quratulain Baloch and guitarist Salman Albert.
Remembered for his rapping days in EP and comic roles in Rubberband andJutt and Bond, Ahmad’s ‘Zehar’ is his first attempt at vocals and they aren’t as stirring as his rap or humour.
Mangon me kyun ye duaQuratulain Baloch does well with her chorus in Punjabi and with Albert on guitar, the single has most of the ingredients it needs to hit the right notes. The lyrics, also written by Ahmad, however, aren’t as striking as one would expect from the talented actor and comedian:
Chahye tou har jaga
Ye mera khhoon tham chuka
Tera zehar bhar chuka
The amalgamation of Urdu, Punjabi and English might be to blame for the song’s cluttered feel. Had the song been solely in Punjabi it may have sounded better. But nevertheless Ahmad’s rap embedded in the song will remind his fans of the good old days when he would rock the crowd as soon as he got hold of the mic.

With his film on the way, it won’t be wrong to say that rap and humour are indeed Ahmad’s forte and although experimenting with music is good, his fans love him just the way he is.
