NEW YORK: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian displayed images of Iranian and Palestinian victims during his UN address Wednesday. He also condemned military actions by the United States and Israel.
Pezeshkian showed photographs of children killed in the February 28 strike on a school in Minab, southern Iran. He also displayed images of Iranian scientists and other civilians.
Iranian officials say the Minab strike killed more than 150 people. They put the number of schoolchildren killed at around 120.
Before leaving Tehran, Pezeshkian said he would highlight the Minab deaths at the United Nations. He also accused major powers of violating agreements and failing to protect civilians.
Pezeshkian: “Iran has demonstrated its commitment to negotiations, but it does not fear any war when it comes to defending the homeland.”

Turning to Gaza, Pezeshkian asked delegates whether they would ignore such attacks. He said at least 35,000 civilians had died there.
The Iranian president also accused Israel of denying Palestinians essential supplies and services. He cited food, drinking water, medicine and healthcare among them.

Pezeshkian used the speech to present Iran’s account of the regional conflicts. His remarks came during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. The General Debate opened on September 22.
