Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker Imran Nadeem was elected unopposed as GB Assembly speaker on Monday and took the oath during the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly session.
Outgoing Speaker Nazir Advocate administered the oath to Nadeem, who then assumed charge as Speaker of the House.
The assembly also elected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz member Malik Kifayat-ur-Rehman as deputy speaker unopposed.

Speaker Imran Nadeem administered the oath to the newly elected deputy speaker. After the speaker and deputy speaker elections, the assembly moved to the next stage of government formation.

The election for Leader of the House was scheduled for 7:40pm. The speaker adjourned the session until the scheduled vote.
The Pakistan Peoples Party nominated Amjad Advocate for the post of Leader of the House.
