LAHORE: The Lahore High Court declined on Thursday to immediately suspend detention orders against Imran Khan’s sisters, Noreen Niazi and Dr Uzma Khan. It sought replies from the Punjab government and other respondents.
Justice Abher Gul Khan heard their petitions challenging the orders. Mudassir Umar and Barrister Taimur requested immediate suspension on the sisters’ behalf. Farrukh Lodhi represented the provincial government.
Lahore’s deputy commissioner ordered their detention for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). Police had recommended the measure.
Authorities transferred both women to Kot Lakhpat Jail. Their sister Aleema Khan was already detained there.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), founded by Imran Khan, has called a nationwide protest and march on Islamabad for Sunday. PTI is demanding the former prime minister’s release and the supremacy of the Constitution.
In a separate petition, Aleema’s son Shahraiz Khan challenged the MPO detention orders against his mother and her driver.
At Tuesday’s hearing in that case, the court sought arguments on whether the petition was maintainable. It adjourned the matter until Friday for further arguments.
