LAHORE, Punjab: Authorities detained Imran Khan’s sisters Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order law on Monday, officials said.
The Lahore deputy commissioner issued the detention orders following a police recommendation. Both women were transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail, where their sister Aleema Khan is also being held.
An order dated September 20 cited concerns about public safety and maintaining public order and alleged that Uzma and Noreen were mobilising workers ahead of planned demonstrations. The district administration’s detention order contains those allegations.
Aleema Khan was detained a day earlier after Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz ordered her detention for 30 days under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960. Police sources confirmed that she was taken to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The party says the mobilisation will demand former prime minister Imran Khan’s release and campaign for what it describes as constitutional supremacy.

Aleema’s sons, Shahrez Khan and Sher Shah, were also briefly detained in Lahore before being released, lawyer Rana Mudassir said.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has criticised the detentions and said the party intends its September 27 mobilisation to remain peaceful and political.
